GPS can track your kids location and keeps him/her safer

GPS tracking capabilities are being applied to real life situations at an ever growing rate. AT&T officials now say that, through the Amber Alert system, GPS tracks kids and gives peace of mind to parents.

The system not only warns parents (by email or text) when their kids leave a predesignated area, but since it’s connected t

o the National Sex Offender database, it will also alert to a situation when a child comes within 500 feet of a registered sex offender’s home.

AT&T officials say Amber Alert GPS V3 provides parents with the ability to get an e-mail or text when children exit zones they can create around their home.

Carol Colombo, chief executive officer of Amber Alert GPS, says the system allows parents to create zones around their neighborhood, school and soccer field, as well as around their homes.

The device integrates its tracking with the National Sex Offender database, alerting parents when their child is within 500 feet of a registered sex offender’s home, Colombo said.

The Amber Alert GPS V3 has an SOS button children can activate to alert their parents if they need help and parents can see exactly where their child is.

Other features of the Amber Alert V3 include speed alerts, “bread-crumbing” — which shows where users have been at specified intervals during the day — and one-way voice monitoring.

“Every parent wants to know their child is safe,” Glenn Lurie, president of emerging devices, AT&T, said. “Embedding wireless connectivity into this tracking device equips parents with the ability to monitor and track the location of their children. This is innovation at its best — providing a solution and peace of mind.”
